Yep! The Sun-Sentinel got it right!

We've been telling you for months that our market here is not really a "buyer's market". Heck, we've been telling that to anyone who will listen for a year or so. We've been saying that our inventory is at historic lows and that really makes it impossible for a true buyer's market to exist! Finally, the newspaper is reporting that news! In our county (Broward), according to the paper, inventory has dropped 45% over the last 2 years. We can tell you in some of the areas we specialize in, that drop in inventory is MUCH higher. We are actually hoping for the responsible release of the "shadow" inventory of foreclosures just so we have something to sell!

As Realtors, sometimes it is VERY difficult to convince buyers that what they hear in the news on a national basis may not be the reality in certain areas and markets. Many people think that because they hear Florida was hard hit in the housing market they should be able to get a 2 bedroom, oceanfront, remodeled unit for under $100k...It just isn't possible here. Are there some good deals? If you want to do some remodeling. But even those deals are vanishing. So now when you are looking you just have to be patient...but ready to jump when something new hits the market.
